KUCHING: A man was saved from being burned in his car after a seizure attack saw him crashing at a petrol station yesterday afternoon.

The 37-year-old victim was said to have just filled up his car at a petrol station at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce around 1.30pm when his vehicle accelerated backwards into a barrier.

Workers at the station immediately rushed towards the car as smoke began to appear from the engine and carried the victim out to safety. They then used fire extinguishers to put out the fire to stop it from spreading and engulfing the car before calling for an ambulance.

The victim, who was believed to have suffered a seizure attack, was then brought to the Sarawak General Hospital for medical attention.

In an unrelated incident, a motorist was pinned to his seat after his car was hit by an out-of-control pickup truck from the opposite lane at Jalan Bukit Hantu yesterday.

The 54-year-old from Kenyalang Park was heading to work around 8am when a pickup truck travelling in the opposite direction went out of control while trying to avoid colliding with another car. The pickup truck ended up going over the road divider and into the victim’s lane before crashing into his car. Firemen from the Batu Lintang station were summoned to the scene to help extricate the victim, who suffered multiple limb fractures and was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
