KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is hunting down three more individuals linked to the bombing in Bangkok on Aug 17.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said PDRM was informed by Thai authorities that the suspects were believed to be in Malaysia.

However, Malaysia needs biometric information and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test result of the trio to facilitate identification and detention.

“This can be done based on mutual legal agreement with a friendly country.

“I believe that PDRM and Thai police can do a lot more,” he told reporters after holding a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Manpower and Transmigration Minister Hanif Dhakiri here, yesterday.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Affairs Minister, said there is possibility that the three individuals have direct or indirect links to the bombing.

“They may be directly involved with the bombers or used to ferry them in a car or a taxi,” he added.

Asked about the nationality of the individuals, the minister declined to comment and leave it to PDRM to reveal it.

So far, PDRM had arrested eight suspects for investigation before being extradited to Thailand.

The bombing near Erawan temple in Bangkok killed 20 people, including five Malaysians, and injured 130 others.

On Sept 28, Thai police announced the identity of the man suspected to be responsible for the Bangkok bombing. — Bernama
