LIMBANG: Locals hope the relevant enforcement agencies would take action against drivers of overloaded lorries plying the road here.

“It goes without saying that such a reckless act poses a danger to other road users. We have seen drivers transporting logs that exceed the length permitted under the law.

“Perhaps the most worrying is that many of them are operating at night onboard lorries that don’t even have rear lights or warning signals. This is very, very dangerous,” a local resident told The Borneo Post on condition of anonymity.

Another resident surnamed Wong, 60, said the presence of these lorries would only damage the road and its connecting stretches.

“We want relevant authorities such as Road Transport Department and police to put more bite into their enforcement and address this situation before it gets worse,” he said.

A random survey at Kubong Road showed that there were indeed a number of overloaded lorries transporting extra long logs passing that stretch.
