Masjid Darul Ihsan A players and officials celebrating their victory in the 7th Inter-Mosque and Surau Badminton Tournament after the prize presentation.
KUCHING: Masjid Darul Ihsan A of Kampung Muda Hashim emerged champions of the 7th Inter-Mosque and Surau Badminton Tournament after they edged Surau Hidayatul Rahman A from Kampung Gersik 2-1 in the final at the Sarawak Bumiputera Badminton Hall in Semariang recently.
Hidzamudine Hazmi and Zkri Idris gave Masjid Darul Ihsan A a 1-0 lead by beating Azizi and Sabri 21-9, 21-14 in the first doubles.
Yusri Azmi Yusuf and Zamahari Eddir outplayed Aizat Udin-Irwan Zulkarnian 21-19, 11-21, 21-13 in the mixed doubles to put Masjid Darul Ihsan A 2-0 up.
They conceded a walkover in the third game, the Novice doubles, to Surau Hidayatul Rahman A.
Masjid Darul Ihsan A received RM1,000 and challenge trophy while Surau Hidayatul Rahman A walked away with RM800 and trophy.
In third and fourth placings were Surau Hidayatul Rahman B of Kampung Gersik and Masjid Darul Ikhlas 1 of Kampung Sindang Baru, Kota Samarahan who received RM500 plus trophy and RM300 plus trophy respectively.
A total of 22 teams took part in the competition organised in conjunction with the celebration of Maal Hijrah in September.
Lembaga Amanah Masjid Negeri Sarawak general manager Mohamad Sabry Othman closed the event and gave away prizes. — by Ting Tieng Hee
