TAWAU: More than 300 people pledged to donate their organs at the Tawau General Hospital last year, thrice the target of 100,
according to hospital deputy director Dr Azman Ibrahim.

He said there was greater awareness on organ donation among the people in the district, resulting in more people coming forward to pledge to donate their organs.

“Patients requiring organs have received them,” he told reporters at the Organ Donation Awareness Week Campaign here today.

He said the hospital was committed to making the campaign a success by targeting areas of public focus and training its personnel to promote organ donation by pledging to donate their organs too.

“As such, we hope to get 600 organ donors this year, double the number for last year,” he added. -Bernama
