SIBU: The President Cup tennis championship starts this morning at Bukit Lima Tennis Court here, with eight teams in the fray.
Sibu Division Lawn Tennis Association (SDLTA) president Vincent Goh Chung Siong is expected to grace the opening at 9am.
SDLTA and Mukah are each sending two teams while Sibu Customs Department, Bintulu Division Lawn Tennis Association, Sarikei Division Lawn Tennis Association and Kuching Green Sport each entered a team.
Prizes are RM1,000 (for the champion), RM500 (first runner-up), RM250 (second runner-up) and RM250 (third runner-up).
SDLTA first vice-president Simon Tiong said defending champion PTBS of Kuching are absent this championship, leaving the title-charge wide open with teams from Mukah and SDLTA standing a bigger chance to win.
