KOTA MARUDU: Proper planning is needed to expedite the development projects and programmes in line with the aim to make Kota Marudu the economic hub of northern Sabah, said Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili.

Ongkili, who is also Kota Marudu Member of Parliament, said to realise this, the related government agencies should have better coordination in the development planning of the district.

He said coordination between the Rural Development Council and other government agencies such as the Public Works Department, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd, Agriculture Department and Water Department, was important to ensure the smooth implementation of all development planned.

“This is also to iron out problems such as land acquisition, fund allocation and different development priorities that may impede the plans for Kota Marudu,” he said.

Ongkili was speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting of the Rural Development Council whose secretariat involves agencies under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry, here today.– BERNAMA
