TANJUNG, South Kalimantan: The number of hotspots in Tabalong increased to 20 points following a number of forest and land fires in the region, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

According to Yandi Sa`bandi, a ranger member of Tabalong Technical Implementation Unit Production Forest Management Unit (KPHP), in a week forest fires penetrated into protected forest areas.

“The fires in a protected forest in Gunung Batu Kumpai, Sub-district of Jaro, even lasted more than four days led to hundreds of hectares of forest burned, and the latest data there were 20 hotspots in Tabalong,” said Yandi in Tanjung on Sunday.

In addition to the protected forest area in Jaro, hotspots were also found in the village of Burum, Bintang Ara Subdistrict, which also fueled land fires.

This condition causes smog in Tabalong still thick, especially in the northern region near forests and plantations areas.
