KUCHING: Three Suluk men were among foreign workers nabbed during an integrated operation led by the state Immigration Department.

The trio was held along with three Indonesian nationals for immigration-related offences when a rented house at Kampung Tabuan Hilir was checked.

The operation started on Monday night and ended around 5am yesterday was led by its senior assistant director Yusdi Morshidi. It involved 91 state Immigration Department personnel, 11 policemen, eight National Registration Department officers and four from the state Civil Defence Department.

Following complaints and tip-offs on the presence of illegal immigrants, the team conducted checks on locals and foreigners in the vicinity of Kampung Tabuan Cemerlang at Jalan Setia Raja and Kampung Tabuan Hilir.

In total, 98 persons staying at rented and unnumbered houses were checked but only six were held as the rest had personal documents.

The six detained, including a female Indonesian child, were found to have violated Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act for illegally entering the state, and are being held for further investigation.
