KUCHING: Organisers of the state-level National Sports Day at Padang Merdeka to be held simultaneously in other venues throughout the country this Saturday have promised an extraordinary affair.

Zumba, martial arts demonstrations, X-Games (skateboarding) exhibition as well as Sports for All award are among the activities lined up apart from the Fun Run and Cycling events.

“What’s more interesting is that there are various mystery prizes for the lucky draw such as bicycle, television and mobile phones to be won by the participants,” Youth and Sports Department state director Abdul Harris Ishak told reporters on Tuesday.

The first 500 participants to turn up for the day’s programme will receive souvenir tee-shirts and certificates of participation.

“Registration is still open to members of the public and those interested can contact our officer Ronnie Boniface Ngi at 013-8641182,” he added.

The event will be officiated by Social Development Minister Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom.
