KUCHING: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) Meluan branch chairman Jerry Clement said it was not a desperate party.

This is so because it managed to win support of rural folks, Jerry said in a statement today.

“There are many people wanting to join Teras as members. Even opposition members are joining BN through Teras because they know for a fact that BN is a natural government. What is the purpose of opposing when one can talk to the government which listens,” he stressed.

“We feel that BN is good, and therefore we are not going anywhere but staying as members of BN. We talk like BN and would never try to jeopardise its struggles for the people’s sake. There is no government like that of BN which comprises many races, religions and cultures.”

State BN chairman cum Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also acknowledged Teras which is why they have never said that Teras was an opposition party but part of the BN-Plus, he said.

“Where is it wrong when we resort to using the name of BN as far as government machinery and BN policy are concerned?” Jerry asked.

He was reacting to comments by Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing and Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Anthony Nogeh that Teras was not BN component party.
