KUCHING: Schoolchildren showcased their raw talent at the state level ‘Ministry of Education 2015 Road Show’ here yesterday.

A sizeable crowd at Boulevard Shopping Mall lauded their performance after they were entertained with local traditional dances, songs, choral speaking, a karaoke session and a fashion show.

The events were part of the roadshow organised by the state Education Department and Ministry of Education that will take place throughout the weekend which aims to disseminate the latest information from the various departments and divisions taking part in the programme.

A dance troupe from SMK Tun Abang Haji Openg raised the curtain on the performances, taking centre stage with a traditional Malay dance.

Members of the public were then invited by students on-stage to join in the dance.

Within minutes, the floor space and the stage itself were brimming with smiling participants.

The performance was followed by a choral speaking performance by SK Rampangi and state English choral speaking champion St Mary’s Secondary Kuching titled ‘Under 18’.

The talented primary school pupils from SK Enche Buyong did well when they performed a dance and sang a cover of the song ‘Bunyi Guitar’ by the late Tan Sri P Ramlee.

The performances were followed by a karaoke session and a fashion show by the Sarawak Zone Community College.

Deputy director general of education Datuk Seri Khairil Awang is expected to officially close the roadshow tomorrow.
