Technician denies cheating charge

KOTA KINABALU: A technician claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to a charge of cheating a man.

Muhammad Fadzil Shah Marsih, 22, who appeared before magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and whipping and also liable to a fine, upon conviction.

The accused, who was represented by counsel Dominic Ghani, was alleged to have deceived a man of RM1,500 by making the victim into believing that the accused could set kitchen cabinet at the victim’s house at an apartment in Penampang at 1pm on September 28.

The court fixed November 18 this year for case management and released the accused on RM2,500 bail with local sureties, pending disposal of the case.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted.
