Air quality improves as at 9am as regional haze clears a little

KUALA LUMPUR: The haze caused by forest fires from Indonesia had cleared a little today, improving air quality in the country to moderate and good levels as at 9am.

The Department of Environment portal reported moderate air pollutant index readings at that time in 35 areas, among them the City of Melaka (95), Bukit Rambai also in Melaka (93), Port Klang (90), Pasir Gudang, Johor (86), Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (82), Seremban (76), Seri Manjung, Perak (70) and Perai, Penang (58).

Sixteen areas experienced good air quality, among them Labuan (17), Limbang (22) and Kapit (23) in Sarawak and Keningau (27), Kota Kinabalu (36), Sandakan (41) and Tawau (50) in Sabah.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
