KAPIT: Forty-two pairs competed in the Kapit District Badminton Doubles Championship held at Bletih Stadium from Oct 6-10.
In the Men’s Doubles, Mathew and Rajis emerged champions. Ngu Teck Kim and Sng Wee Chen were second while joint third placing went to Herman-Suhaiddin and Irman Shan-Ayum.
Georgina Pui and Michelle Kong top the Ladies Doubles after beating Rohanna and Lenny in the final. Joint third were Merdekas-Diana and Dolia-Isabel.
The Men’s Veteran Doubles title was captured by Ling Leong Ching and Sng Chee Ching. Low Tung Lai and Sng Chee Ung were runners-up. Pimpin-Jack and Matu-Samail were joint third.
Cash prizes of RM 300, RM 200 and RM 100 were given out to the top three positions in the three categories.
Deputy Kapit Resident ZulUsup officiated at the closing ceremony. Also present were committee members of the Kapit Division Badminton Association led by David Chuo. The five-day tournament was held in conjunction with the National Sports Day.
