BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), yesterday consented to receive in audience General Sir Peter Wall, Colonel Commandant of the Brigade of Gurkhas, at Istana Nurul Iman, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

General Sir Peter Wall – in his capacity as the personal representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom – is in the country for a commemoration parade in conjunction with the 200th anniversary of Gurkha Military Service to the British Crown which was held yesterday morning at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.

Also present during the audience were Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Deputy Minister of Defence; Dato Paduka Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, Permanent Secretary (Security and Enforcement) at the Prime Minister’s Office; Datin Paduka Hajah Suriyah binti Haji Umar, Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Defence; Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of the RBAF; David Campbell, the British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam; Colonel Mike Paige, Defence Advisor to the British High Commission; and Colonel James Robinson of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
