Fourteen-medal haul by state Taekwondo team

KUCHING: Exponents from the Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) enjoyed a good outing at the 6th TM (WTF)-NSC-Milo National Junior Taekwondo Championship in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The 22-member team brought home four gold, four silver and six bronze medals to do the state proud.

The gold medals were won by Nurul Fatihah Roslan, Iffah Syahirah Abdul Hanif, Iffah Syahirah Abdul Hanif-Austin Jason Pui and Marisa Mujan Mering-Agatha Lahai Lipau-Patricia Mujan Mring.

Those contributing silver were Eimran Ghaffary, Monica Sharma Sanjeev Kumar, Nur Humaira Abdul Karim and Nur Humaira Abdul Karim-Bashsheberth Berayan Dayak.

The bronze medals came from Amelia Wong, Annie Lau Yih Jiun, Kansas Anak Gelin, Bashsheberth Berayan Dayak, Dayang Syakirahkhadra Awang Daud-Kansas Gelin and Marisa Mujan Mering-Joseph Ungkah.

State technical chairman Tan Jeck Choon, who was very pleased with the team’s performance, said the team was quite focused and confident during the two-day meet.

“Our team are moving up and I hope they will remain level headed and keep their feet on the ground so as to achieve further glory in the forth-coming national and international tournaments, as well as Sukma XVIII which will be held in Sarawak,” said Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) president Mohamad Salleh Sani.
