KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is confident that its investigations into the SRC International case can be completed before the end of the year.

MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations), Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said the results of the investigations would then be submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“We are trying to complete the investigations before the end of the year,” he said in a statement yesterday.

However, he said investigations into the case of RM2.6 billion banked into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s personal account would take more time to be solved as the MACC needed the cooperation of foreign countries.

“The RM2.6 billion case will take a longer time,” he said.

Mohd Shukri also reiterated the MACC’s statement that if needed, it would call on anyone including Najib to assist in the investigations.

“Nobody can interfere in our investigations. The MACC will conduct the investigations in a free, transparent and professional manner,” he said.

Yesterday, MACC’S former Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management and Professionalism) Datuk Seri Zakaria Jaffar had proposed that the Attorney- General appoint a special panel comprising representatives from various bodies to look into the results of the investigations into the case of SRC International and the RM2.6 billion fund. — Bernama
