Maybank opens Matang Jaya branch, its 27th in Sarawak

KUCHING: Maybank has expanded its network in Sarawak to 27 with the opening of its latest branch in Matang Jaya, located in a new mixed residential and commercial township, 9km from here.

Located at Commercial Swan Centre, Mile 4, Jalan Matang, the branch offers a full range of conventional and Islamic products as well as services including Self Service Banking Terminals (SST) which consists of two ATMs and a cash deposit machine.

Other facilities offered include deposits, savings and current accounts, fixed deposits, ASNB financing, other loans and financing which include housing loans, shophouse loan, construction of bungalow as well as financing for purchase of vacant land for individual and business entity.

The branch also offers business financing as well as general and life insurance and investment products.

Maybank Malaysia head of Community Financial Services Hamirullah Boorhan said in a statement yesterday that the opening of the new branch in Matang Jaya was part of the bank’s strategy to strengthen its footprint in newly developed townships which are underserved in terms of banking services.

“It is also in line with our mission to humanise financial services by providing customers easy access to banking services.

“We see this new branch as being a catalyst for economic development of this region as both retail and business customers can now benefit from the full range of banking services available in this area,” he added.

The Maybank Matang Jaya branch has a staff strength of 13, and aims to serve customers within the Matang, Petra Jaya and Bako areas which has a total population of 250,000.

Banking hours are from 9.15am to 4.30pm every Monday to Thursday, and from 9.15am to 4pm on Fridays.

Maybank’s 27 branches throughout the state, includes two Premier Wealth Centres in Sibu and Miri and a Private Wealth Centre here.

In addition, selected banking and financing services such as cash deposits, payments and withdrawals are available in rural areas and small towns in the state under a strategic partnership with Pos Malaysia Berhad.

This Shared Banking service which is now available at 25 selected Pos Malaysia outlets provides Maybank an added reach to serve a larger base of customers, especially the underserved segment in rural areas, by leveraging on Pos Malaysia network.
