In spring of this year, GoPro’s founder and CEO Nick Woodman confirmed the rumors about an ambitious plan to create a sophisticated quadcopter able to film spectacular professional-quality video. The US company has now put a remarkable test video online.

After its CEO’s announcement, GoPro had not said anything more on the matter until it released this video. It shows footage taken with a drone prototype which incorporates a video stabilization system. The result is impressive, particularly given that the video was not altered in any way post-production and shows no signs of vibration. This quadcopter could be launched in 2016, but no information is currently available about its technical features or price.

Drone specialists such as DJI and Parrot already offer quadcopters equipped with cameras, and many drones can be fitted with a GoPro camera. Parrot’s product range is undoubtedly the most comprehensive on the market at the moment, as the company offers drones that can roll, jump or fly. Its premium product range is the Bebop Drone which has a 14 megapixel camera with image stabilization that is able to take 180° videos and photos. And the Parrot Skycontroller can be used to extend the WiFi range and maximize control of the device via a smartphone or tablet.
