KUCHING: National rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah is looking to end his second season in the Moto2 racing season on a high note in Valencia in Spain this weekend.

The Petronas Raceline Malaysia rider considers the Ricardo Tormo Circuit as one of his favourite tracks and he has to keep the momentum rolling by finishing in the top 10 after clinching eighth place at home race in Sepang two weeks ago.

Hafizh’s confidence is boosted for the upcoming finale, having enjoyed a victory at the 4km track during his CEV Repsol days back in 2013.

“In Sepang, I was under a lot of pressure from family, friends , fans and sponsors and it affected my practice and qualifying pace. Luckily I managed to pull through on race day with a strong eighth despite starting from sixth row (18th). In Valencia I feel good and very much at home so I will go out and do my best,” said the Petronas Talent Development rider.

Meanwhile, team principal Barry Leong commented in the press release: “We were worried in Sepang race but here (Valencia) we are confident Hafizh can deliver for the final race of the season. We look forward to a fruitful weekend.”
