Sibu host Special Olympics-cum-Unifi ed Sports event

SIBU: The Sibu Chapter of Special Olympics Sarawak organised a two-day coaching course cum 5-a-side football competition held at SK Perbandaran No.3 yesterday.

Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee kick-started the two events which were part of the Unifi ed Sports movement of Special Olympics.

Unifi ed Sports is a fast growing Special Olympics initiative aimed at bringing people with and without intellectual disabilities to play in the same team in competition.

Seventy Special Olympics coaches from various primary and secondary schools took part in the coaching course.

Among them were those from the centres with special education programmes from Bintulu, Kanowit, Meradong and Sarikei. The 5-a-side football tournament was participated by the Special Needs children from Sibu Agape Centre.
