TAWAU: A 13-year-old boy sustained light injury on his right shoulder blade after he was slashed by an unknown man with a sharp weapon outside a house at Lorong Mat Salleh, Batu 2, Jalan Apas here at about 9.45pm on Nov 11.
The victim was playing with his five friends on a ladder outside the house when the incident occurred.
The suspect was riding a motorcycle towards the victim and slashed him on his back with a chopper.
The suspect tried to slash the victim again but he managed to dodge.
The victim then jumped down from the ladder and ran towards a neighbouring house for help.
The suspect then rode away with another motorcycle, which was believed to be ridden by his friend who waited from afar.
Acting district police chief Superintendent Mustaffa Maarof Mustaffa said the victim was unable to identify the suspect as the latter was wearing a helmet with a face mask.
With the help of neighbours, the victim was sent to Tawau Hospital for treatment.
Mustaffa said the victim lodged a police report at 10am on Nov 12, and the motive of the incident was still under investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
