KUCHING: Sex blogger Alvin Tan created another Facebook page after his previous page was deleted.
Facebook removed Tan’s page yesterday for violating its Community Standards policy, a day after he allegedly posted a series of pictures where he used a page of the Quran as toilet paper, drawing ire from Muslim and non-Muslim social media users alike.
He wrote on his new page, “My post may have been controversial, but it was never done in bad faith to create hatred or animosity against Muslims as a group of people.”
Tan also wrote, “If you disagree with Facebook for removing my page, write to them and consider this a de facto petition to reinstate my page via the link.”
Bernama reported that five police reports had been lodged against Tan after his latest post.
Tan and his former partner Vivian Lee are facing criminal charges under Malaysia’s Sedition Act and Film Censorship Act for allegedly insulting Islam by uploading a Facebook post promoting ‘bak kut teh’ during Ramadan.
