Man gets 20 months’ jail for keeping stolen motorbike

SIBU: A 28-year-old plantation worker was sentenced to 20 months’ jail by the magistrate’s court here yesterday for retaining a stolen motorcycle.

Arasid M Said from Indonesia pleaded guilty to the offence framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of between six months and five years, and a possible fine upon, conviction.

He was found to possess a motorcycle that belonged to one Ahmad Jaafar Mohamad at a workers’ quarters in Rantau Panjang, at about 4am on Nov 6.

Ahmad found his machine missing at Taman Wawasan at 7.55pm on Aug 7.

During a raid at the quarters between 4am and 6.30am on Nov 6, a police team found two motorcycles which had been reported stolen.

The accused at the time claimed that the two motorcycles belonged to him. Police arrested him and seized the two motorcycles.
