KUALA LUMPUR: The teacher recruitment process cannot be opened to all education graduates,including from private higher education of institutions (IPTS) as there is a quota for the post.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun said at the moment, the number of education graduates from public universities and institute of teacher education (IPG) had exceeded the quota.
“That’s why it is hard for us to open applications for IPTS students to be teachers in primary and secondary schools,” he said when winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2016 at in the Dewan Rakyat here yesterday.
Earlier, Datuk Hasbullah Osman (BN-Gerik) when debating the motion on the Bill questioned about the teacher recruitment policy which should be opened to all education graduates.
Entulu said the recruitment of teachers was subjected to vacancies notified by the Education Ministry.
In response to a question from Datuk Zainudin Ismail (BN-Jelebu) who raised the issue of the delay in government service delivery, Entulu said the government was trying to reduce bureaucracy.
“In line with the government’s efforts to make the public service people-oriented, efforts to reduce bureaucracy is focused on the aspect of empowerment, work processes and procedures at all levels of the government agencies.
“Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is a strategic enhancement to improve re-engineering processes and work procedures through the elimination of inefficient steps, stringent requirements and do not support the government’s objectives, outdated laws and the use of many forms,” he said. — Bernama
