SEMPORNA: The 18 Miss Scuba International contestants went  diving in Sipadan on the third and fourth day upon arriving at Mabul Water Bungalow.

Sipadan Island is a world class dive site. It is surrounded by some of the most globally significant coral reefs in terms of their biodiversity content.

The contestants enjoyed their dive as sea turtles, white-tip reef sharks, angel fish, jack fish and many other marine animals were passing them by during their dives.

Through diving, the contestants witnessed the beauty of the underwater world.

They also realised that marine conservancy is crucial in ensuring the sustainability of marine life, which is one of the most important sources of livelihood to mankind.

The contestants also attended a beach clean-up on one of the evenings.

They wore gloves and cleared the trashes found on the beach area to be thrown away before they pollute our inland and coastal waters.

Trashes on the beach such as water bottles, plastic bags and cigarettes can affect marine life which may accidentally swallow them or feed them to their young.

In the next few days, the contestants from the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malta, the Philippines, Latvia, Kenya, Japan, Indonesia, China, France, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia will be attending classes to equip themselves on knowledge on marine conservancy.

They will be competing to be the next Miss Scuba International at the Magellan Sutera Resort, Kota Kinabalu on November 27.
