SIBU: A motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into a black sports car in front of St John’s Church at Tun Abang Haji Openg Road this evening (Nov 23).

It is unclear how the 6.20pm accident occurred, but the police believe the forceful collision sent both vehicles into the church fence, bringing down a section of the concrete wall.

The result of the impact flung the body of the rider and his motorcycle into the cemetery in front of the church.

Police have identified the dead rider as that of Ting Yew Kui, 50, from Brooke Drive 31. Ting died on the spot.

It is said the black sports car involved in the fatal accident belongs to a son of a prominent corporate figure in Sibu.

When the traffic police arrived, the driver was not there and it is believed that he had left the scene.

Ting’s body has been sent to the hospital mortuary. Police are investigating the accident.
