TELAGA AIR: The second series of training for volunteers for the 2016 Sukma got off to a good start with a turnout of 81 participants in the training course at JAKIM here from Nov 21-23.

The trainees, aged between 18 and 45, were drawn from various government agencies.

Organising committee chairman Ahmad Rodzi Hashim said their main job is to mould the volunteers into a disciplined force and instill in them the required work ethics.

“The main challenge is to get them into a strong unit as they all come from different backgrounds.

“Also, they will serve as an important “bridge” between the organiser of the Games, the athletes and spectators.

Organisers are targeting as many as 750 people as more may be needed to officiate at the Paralympic Games to be held after Sukma XVIII.

The first series of the volunteer course with 50 participants was held from Nov 5-19 while the third and last series will be held in Miri from Dec 7-10.

Those interested to join as volunteers can contact Ahmad Rodzi Hashim at 013-8443044 or Ahmad Osman at 016-8889274.
