KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Land Development Board has been appointed as the main agency to develop the Communal Land Title through a joint venture.

According to Special Tasks Minister Datuk Teo Chee Kang who represented Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman in the winding up of the 2016 budget speech yesterday, said the board was appointed by the Sabah Action Committee.

However, he said the beneficiaries of the Communal Title were allowed to carry out joint ventures with any other government agencies or private companies provided they had the approval and blessing from the government.

He said that they must give the proposal to the Land and Surveys Department director as the collector who has the role as the registered owner.

The proposal would then be recommended by the Land and Survey Department director to the Inland Revenue secretary’s office for the approval of the government, he said.

“Any joint venture agreement signed by the beneficiary without the approval and blessing from the government will be deemed void and invalid,” he said.

Teo also said that Felcra had not submitted a proposal to develop the communal land title at the Tambisan area.

He explained that there were three identified communal land titles at Tambisan, Kinabatangan and they comprised Sungai Nipah (823 acres), Pamahutan (545 acres) and Tambisan Darat (1,100 acres).

Of the three areas, only Tambisan Darat has been issued with the Communal Land Title while the rest are in the study process.
