Coach still believes Sarawak capable of overcoming Selangor at Shah Alam stadium

KUCHING: Beating Selangor at the Shah Alam Stadium might be a tall order for any team, let alone Sarawak, but coach David Usop strongly believes his boys (Sarawak) can avenge the 1-2 defeat at home in the second leg Malaysia Cup quarterfinal on Saturday.

Sarawak must win by two clear goals to move on due to the one goal deficit and the fact that Selangor had scored two away goals which may add in their favour if Sarawak beat Selangor 1-0.

David admits that it will be a daunting task for his team, but was quick to say that they would not give up hopes of beating the odds at the Shah Alam Stadium.

“Everybody knows that Selangor is a strong team and now the return match is to their advantage as it will be played at their home ground but anything can happen in football.

“We have to go all out to score goals and fully focus on the game and with a bit of luck we may turn the table on the home side and qualify for the semifinals,” he told Bernama here today.

He said Sarawak was capable of beating any team in the competition, adding that Selangor had also lost their home games and that could also happen on Saturday.

Except for Joseph Kalang Tie who is serving a five-match suspension, David said all the other players were available for Saturday’s match.

The interim coach (David) has won praise from Sarawak fans for successfully guiding the ‘Bujang Senang’ side into the Malaysia Cup quarterfinals.-Bernama
