TELAGA AI: The second series of volunteer training course for 81 participants from various government agencies at Jakim here has been a huge success.

This is according to Suhardi Alias, who was one the three course instructors and is from the National Sports Council, Kuala Lumpur.

“The candidates will be shortlisted after all the series of the volunteer training courses are completed,” he said.

Suhardi also expressed confidence that the courses run were able to unearth a wealth of experienced volunteers from Sarawak.

“We look for qualities such as passion for sports so that they can face any challenges and to guide them to serve as a team. “So far, it has been a huge success as we bear in mind that these trainees are from all walks of life.

“Also, we hope to instill in them the friendliness and versatility of the games and those selected will have their names entered in the data-base for future call ups to help in future Games,” he added.

Sarawak Sports Corporation chief executive officer and director of MSNS, Dr Ong Kong Swee, who closed the event on Tuesday, presented certificates of participation to the participants.

The Sukma organising committee are targeting to select 750 volunteers to serve in Sukma XVIII to be held in July next year.
