KOTA SAMARAHAN: Hari Peladang, Penternak Dan Nelayan Kebangsaan 2015 (HPPNK 2015) brings good name and prestige to Kota Samarahan and the state.

Besides that, it is most appropriate for the federal government to bring the national-level farmers, breeders and fishermen day to Kota Samarahan, walikota Dato Peter Minos said, considering that Samarahan is famous for agriculture.

“We are expecting a big crowd, which will bring business to many stallholders on Saturday (Nov 28),” he told The Borneo Post yesterday

He said local people were delighted that the event would be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Furthermore, the HPPNK 2015 would attract many people to Kota Samarahan, which Samarahan District Council was very happy about, he added.

“Kota Samarahan will become more famous and known by all. As walikota, I say thank you very much,” he said.

“Now, with this national event, agriculture will be a big thing in the more rural parts of Samarahan. This is great for all in Kota Samarahan and for Sarawak in general,” he added.

He commended Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud when he was chief minister for starting the ball rolling for the development of Kota Samarahan.

“It is really great of him. We merely add to what he had done. We will do our best to make Kota Samarahan a better place to work, study and live in,” he stressed.

A survey at the site yesterday showed people going to the event secretariat for last minute instructions.

The venue for the event was shaping up and participants from all states were making their final preparations and sprucing up the exhibition hall while all the stalls were ready for business.

Council staff and their extra workers were seen cleaning the area for a full dress rehearsal at 4pm today in preparation for the actual day tomorrow.
