MIRI: The number of evacuees in Limbang remained at 300 as at 8 am, said Limbang Department of Civil Defence officer Subuh Posa.

He said they were being housed at the Medamit community hall.

Subuh said these evacuees might be allowed to return to their homes this evening if the floodwaters continued to recede.

Miri Fire and Rescue Service chief Law Poh Kong said food packets were being flown by helicopter since yesterday to 1,770 villagers in Long Panai, Long Iman and Kampung Melinau in the Miri interior where floodwaters were reportedly rising.

“So far, there has been no evacuation,” he said.

He also said that 573 people in Long Bemang and Long Ukok had requested for food to be sent to them as well.– BERNAMA
