Rep: Do something about erosion at SK Tanjung

LIMBANG: The authorities are urged to do something about the condition at SK Tanjung here which is facing erosion problem since five years ago.

Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang said the issue had been brought up to Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah previously but the ministry said the school was one of schools in the state set for upgrading.

“It is not known when the new school will be rebuilt at the new site,” he told the press after the launch of ‘Karnival Jiranku Keluargaku’ at Kampung Pahlawan yesterday.

Paulus said the Ministry of Education acknowledged the critical conditions of SK Tanjung, adding that Limbang MP Hasbi Habibollah had also brought the federal minister of education to the school to see for himself that nothing had been done so far.

“We wonder why this matter is yet to be settled, especially when the site and allocation have been approved by the ministry,” he said.

Paulus also revealed that the Education Department would build temporary cabins in the school vicinity, not far from the stream but this could be dangerous because of the possibility of erosion.

He said he would bring up the issue at the next DUN sitting in early December.
