PARIT: A commando from Kem Sungai Udang, Melaka was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with possession of a T-shirt
associated with the IS militant group.
Mohd Abu Haliff Shah Abu Bakar, 28, allegedly committed the offence at his house in Kampung Baru, Mukim Lambor Kiri, Bota, around 1.30 pm on Nov 12.
The charge under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine and forfeiture of the item.
However no plea was recorded from the accused.
Magistrate Mohd Fitri Sadarudin set Jan 6 for re-mention pending transfer of the case to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Qistina Qamarul Abrar appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.-Bernama
