50 auxiliary cops under LAKMNS complete T-baton training

KUCHING: Fifty auxiliary policemen attached to Sarawak State Mosques Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) passed their T-baton training course, which was conducted at Police Training Centre (Pulapol) at Jalan Puncak Borneo near here recently.

LAKMNS head of corporate sector and management Megawati Julaihi said the training aimed to enhance the skills of these security personnel in facing physical threats that they might encounter during their duty of safeguarding the properties owned and managed by the board.

“Such training is important in this era where threats can come in so many forms.

“The LAKMNS takes steps to ensure that our security personnel are well-trained in the usage of combat weapons so that they are able protect themselves and the properties that they are safeguarding,” she said before officiating at the closing of the course Masjid Jamek here yesterday.

The function also unveiled the newly-designed uniforms for LAKMNS auxiliary policemen.

“This new outfit not only looks smart, but also portrays a more professional image of the auxiliary force.

On the training, Megawati praised the state Pulapol for helping to raise the level of skills and competency in the board’s auxiliary personnel.

“Pulapol has really done a great job. We hope that they would continue conduction courses for LAKMNS security personnel going forward.”

Earlier, Megawati was given the honour to inspect the parade before witnessing a demonstration on the usage of the T-baton by auxiliary policemen.

Later, she presented certificates to course participants, in the presence of LAKMNS security chief Anuar Abu Bakar, Pulapol Puncak Borneo representative DSP Lepi Awan and ASP Dayang Rahmah Awang Bolhan from state police’s crime prevention and community safety department.
