KUCHING: RTM’s national-level Bintang Kecil singing competition cut four participants after its first concert on Sunday.

With songs from the 90s as its theme, the concert bade farewell to Salvia Rumpet (Sarawak), Nurul Maimanah Abdul Qahhar (Melaka), Awangku Zaq Amirul Awang Jamaludin (Kuala Lumpur) and Muhammad Amirul Haziq Rozi (Negeri Sembilan).

They each received RM1,000, a plaque and certificate from Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

Muhammad Amirul was also named best participant for his commitment and good discipline throughout the ‘Berambeh’ programme.

Those who made it through the first week to the semifinal concert were Abdul Halim Hisamudin (Sarawak), Muhd Harris Mukhriz Haron (Sarawak), Sharifah Alia Farisha Syed Azizi (Pahang), Chrisy Elvira Mathius (Sabah), Farhana Naslyn Sihaillin (Sabah), Azizan Hajan (Sabah), Hafi Danisha Lili Mohd Hafiz (Terengganu), Muhammad Rizki Shukri Rosdi (Terengganu) and Muhammad Danial Hafiz Mohamed Zaharim (Perak).

All participants received coaching from experts Patrick Khamis, Embat Lala, and Awang Arabi Awang Bujang.

During Sunday’s concert, Akademi Fantasia 2013 winner Faizul Sany also performed, moving the crowd with Man Bai’s ‘Kau Ilham Ku’ and his latest single ‘Perempuan’.

The concert was broadcast live on TV2, Sarawak FM, and www.rtmsarawak.gov.my/SARAWAKfm.

The semifinal will be held on Saturday (Dec 5) at the RTM Kuching compound, while the final concert will be on Dec 13.

Contestants are battling for the top prize of RM15,000, as well as second and third prizes of RM10,000 and RM7,000, respectively.
