ISTANBUL: An explosion of unknown origin rocked the Istanbul metro on Tuesday, causing injuries and bringing the transport system in Turkey’s largest city to a halt, reports said.

The huge explosion caused panic close to the metro station in the Bayrampasa district of Istanbul and injured at least six people, NTV television said, adding that the Istanbul municipality had suspended the city’s metro system and the cause could be linked to an electrical transformer. -AFP
