KUCHING: A teenage motorcyclist was killed after he was run over by a car while riding back to his house on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Muazzami Mohd, 16, of Kampung Telaga Air.
The incident occurred around 10.15pm when the teenager is said to have lost control of his motorcycle at Mile 7 in
Matang.
He ended up crashing into the opposite lane and was struck by an oncoming car, which killed him on the spot.
Traffic police personnel were present at the scene to investigate the fatal collision and later sent the body to the Sarawak General Hospital.
In a separate incident, an elderly man lost the lower half of his leg after he was struck by a car along Jalan Upland yesterday.
The incident happened around 2pm along Jalan Upland shortly after the victim and his wife were involved in a minor fender-bender with another car.
It is understood that the couple stood behind their car while discussing with the other party on where to have their vehicles sent for repairs when a car driven by a teenager rammed into them.
The victim’s wife was thrown against the windscreen of the teen’s car, which then ploughed into the elderly man and his vehicle, causing his right leg to be pinned in between both bumpers and severing it at the calf.
Medical personnel were summoned to the scene to rush the elderly victims to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment, with the man being admitted for surgery.
The teen driver was not hurt in the incident.
