SRVA Baru all out for ex-Iban trackers, Rangers

KUCHING: The Sarawak Rangers Veterans Association (SRVA Baru) claims that it is in a better position to take care of former Iban trackers and Sarawak Rangers compared to the newly-formed Rangers Corps Army Veterans Association (PVTKR).

In an emailed statement to The Borneo Post yesterday, SRVA Baru said it was formed to look after the welfare of former Iban trackers and Sarawak Rangers and that its top office bearers were indeed former Sarawak Rangers officers.

“PVTKR can claim whatever they want, but the reality is they do not seem to know what they are doing,” said the statement.

SRVA Baru president Lt Col (Rtd) James Tomlow warned the new association to get its facts right and not to confuse veterans, particularly retired trackers and rangers.

“You are only born yesterday and please do not be too ambitious of taking over an association which in reality is senior to you,” Tomlow said in the statement.

Last Saturday, PVTKR secretary Major (Rtd) Sharkawi Dawi had repeatedly stated that the association was formed not to challenge or compete with other veterans bodies, but to complement their work.
