MIRI: A total of 182 pupils from several primary schools in Batu Niah and Sepupok went to have free haircut at the basketball court of SJKC Chee Mung here on Sunday.

The session, which ran from 9am until 2pm, was jointly conducted by SUPP Bekenu and Sibuti Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre under the ‘Help the People’ (Membara) community programme, where Sibuti MP Sibuti Ahmad Lai Bujang was present to see the children having their haircut.

He was accompanied by Miri Special Affairs Department (Jasa) officer Lukanisman Awang Sauni and SUPP Bekenu chairman William Thien.

Lukanisman said SUPP Bekenu and the parliamentary service centre took the initiative to provide free haircut for the children that day, as they went to register for the new term at their respective schools.

Later that day, Ahmad Lai visited SJKC Chee Mung to inspect the progress of works on its classroom upgrading project and also the new air-conditioning units, which were installed recently.

The MP then proceeded to the nearby SK Batu Niah to inspect the school’s grand stand project, before going to the site where the new office block of Buddha Association of Batu Niah was being built.
