PADANG BESAR: The Perlis Customs Department arrested a husband and wife couple and seized ganja weighing 99kg from their car at the Wang Klian Immigration Control Post here.

Its director Kamarudin Jaafar said the couple, who were from Kedah, were detained when they arrived from a neighbouring country in a car, on Dec 27.

“We found 99 slabs of ganja in plastic wrappings worth more than RM148,000 hidden in the boot and back seat of the car, which also had a Perlis Immigration Department sticker attached.

“Three opaque plastic packets containing ganja and yellow powder, believed to be heroin, were also found in the man’s shorts and sling bag. He was also found positive for syabu,” Kamarudin told a media conference here, yesterday.
