SRI AMAN: A 42-year-old man was found dead in a house located opposite St Luke’s Anglican Church here on Saturday.

According to Sri Aman police chief DSP Mat Jusoh Muhammad, the deceased was identified as Ngu Leh Ung, 42, and known to be living alone in the house where his body was found at 7.10pm.

On the day the body was discovered, the Sri Aman District police headquarters (IPD) operations room received a call from a Chinese man who detected a stench of decay from his relative’s house located at No 59, Jalan Sabu.

Acting on the information, the Sri Aman IPD led by ASP Jamaluddin subsequently rushed to the scene.

“We too sought assistance from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Service Department (Bomba) to break into the house as the house was locked from the inside. During inspection, police officers found the body of a man lying naked and face down on a mattress placed under the stairs that leads to the first floor of the double-storey house,” he added.

Mat Jusoh said Ngu was believed to have been dead for three to four days. Sri Aman Bomba officers too performed special services to extract the body from the house at 8.21pm that day.

Jilin Itar, who is Sri Aman Bomba chief, arrived at the scene 24 minutes later. Ngu’s body was taken to Sri Aman hospital for further action.

Police said the case, classified as sudden-death, is still under investigation.
