KUCHING: A family of German tourists has vowed to return to Aiman Batang Ai Resort and Retreat after staying there this month.
After conducting a talk and giving lectures at a local university in Peninsula Malaysia recently, timber expert Dr Simon Aicher decided to visit the resort with his wife Eva-Maria and son Simon Jr.
The family stayed at the resort just days after Aiman Agro Park Sdn Bhd and Aiman Planet Borneo Lodge Management took over the ownership and management of the 20-year-old resort on Jan 1.
“We enjoyed our stay here and we would come back and see all the new developments that you all are putting in here,” Eva-Maria told resort interim manager Mona Abdul Manap.
Eva-Maria said her husband was impressed with the wooden structure of the resort, although he agreed some maintenance and repair works were needed.
She also agreed to be the model for a photo shoot for the resort’s spa by the poolside and received a complimentary full 45-minute body massage.
This prompted Eva-Maria to book another massage session for herself and her son the following day.
The 100-room resort, which is located at the fringe of Lanjak Entimau National Park overlooking Batang Ai Hydro Electric Dam in Lubok Antu district was previously owned by Tradewind Hotels and Resorts and managed by Hilton.
Since taking over the management, Planet Borneo Lodge Management has conducted some refurbishment work to improve the facilities and ambience, as well as added more activities for guests.
All the resort’s operations and business activities will continue as usual.
Facilities include a restaurant, swimming pool, spa, three meeting rooms, tennis courts, obstacle course equipment, a lounge, pool bar, canopy walk, dart board, board games, pool tables and a lobby shop.
Guests can enjoy activities such as boating, kayaking, jungle trekking, bird-watching, fishing, and visiting nearby longhouses.
Planet Borneo Lodge Management will also include other activities such as dance classes, basket weaving, bead-making, blowpipe making, workout sessions, culinary classes and potpourri making. Being very near the national park, there are also interesting and educational jungle trekking opportunities.
For those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the resort offers serenity and tranquillity for total relaxation.
