SARIKEI: The inaugural Sarikei Closed snooker championship organised by Repok Cue Club kicked off on Wednesday night with 16 participants.

Organising chairman Elvis Wong said the tournament offered RM1,000 cash prize for the champion, RM500 for the first runner-up, consolation for the other two semi-finalists and RM200 for the highest break surpassing 50 points.

Sarikei District Council chairman Chan Phan Chan was invited to officially kick off the tournament. — by Anthony Aga
