KUCHING: Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Kuching branch expects to have about 90 exhibitors at its first property roadshow this year.

The roadshow themed 1st Home and Property Roadshow 2016 will be held on March 4 to 6 at Boulevard Shopping Mall here from 10 am to 9 pm.

Organising chairman Alan Wong is urging exhibitors who are interested to showcase their projects and products to grab the opportunities to register their participation with the association.

“Currently, about 50 booths have been taken up by Sheda’s regular exhibitors.

“Other developers, real estate agents and building related trades from Sarawak, West Malaysia and overseas are encouraged to participate in Sheda Kuching branch roadshow.

“There is sufficient property exhibitors to attract potential house buyers to vist Sheda’s organised property fair.

“The roadshow provides opportunites for developers to promote and showcase their projects and products. It will also help to enhance the company’s image.

“(In the meantime), there are still a number of booths in strategic locations for potential exhibitors to select at this juncture and it is advisable to contact Sheda Kuching branch secretariat to secure your booths now.

“Sheda is committed to organise multiple housing and property exhibitions this year,” he told the media yesterday.

Meanwhile, Sheda Kuching branch chairman Dr. Christopher Ngui said although the property market has remained soft at this junture, prices of properties especially residential properties will eventually increase in the future.

He urged potential housebuyers and property investors to seize the opportunities to purchase their first home if they have yet to own one at the property roadshow.

Ngui observed that the property market will rebound and prices will then go up once the country’s economy recovers.

As for the housing market in Sarawak, he noted that there is a balanced supply and demand situation as compared to West Malaysia.

This, he explained was due to the state government’s stringent policy for the development of housing in the state in which the approval is done in stages.

At the moment, he believed that Sarawak’s property market remains steady.

Additionally, Sheda Kuching branch general manager Tan Teck Kian opined that the local property market will stay sustainable on the back of prudent approach by developers in managing their inventories such as controlling their supply of properties to the market and cost.

Also present at press conference were Sheda Kuching branch advisor Sim Kiang Chiok and Sheda Kuching branch administrative executive Angelina Chai.
