KUCHING: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) launched its second one-stop counter (OSC) in the state for online registration of new vehicles at NB Motors Trading Sdn Bhd, Jalan Sherip Masahor yesterday.
The latest OSC is the third in the country.
JPJ director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad said the centre is to ensure smooth and fast direct online transactions for vehicle registration between JPJ and its business partners.
He said the OSC, which comes under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS), also aims to provide convenience to the public and reduce congestion at the JPJ office.
“Apart from new vehicle registration, the facility can also be used for printing of Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) and Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC).
“This facility is for all vehicle companies to use, not only confined to NB Motors and our business partners,” he said.
Ismail said JPJ is going through a transformation in stages, with the OSC being part of initiatives to provide better and more efficient services to the public.
NB Motors Group of Companies executive director Johnnie Ngu hoped such cooperation between private companies and the government would continue in future.
He said the OSC, implemented through a strategic partnership between JPJ and its business partners, is part of the much-anticipated transformation of the automotive industry.
“This transformation will provide a proper facility to the public with easier and quicker transactions during the purchase of new vehicles, especially in the vicinity of the appointed manufacturers for the opening of the counter,” he said.
Ngu promised that the management of the OSC would be regulated and managed properly according to JPJ’s procedures.
“I appreciate the government, particularly the RTD (JPJ) in its effort to increase efficiency in the delivery of government services.
“This proves that the government is committed to reducing red tape for the convenience of public,” he said.
