KUCHING: The High Court adjourned to April 29 the mention of an appeal of a vehicle salesman convicted of 42 cheating charges.

Justice Datuk Yew Jen Kie set the date of the appeal as the record of the case involving Lee Ling Tong, 40, was not ready.
Last Nov 11, Lee was sentenced to a total of 46 years in jail and 125 strokes of the rotan after being found guilty under Section 420 of the Penal Code. Lee, who hails from Mile 8 1/2 Jalan Penrissen, was involved in a luxury car auction scam which saw the victim lose nearly RM300,000.

He had induced the victim to believe that the Royal Malaysian Customs Department was auctioning seven luxury cars and the victim had paid him the sum for payment of the cars, the road tax discs, insurance coverage and deposits for examination at Puspakom. The offence was committed between Oct 29, 2009 and Jan 29, 2010 at the Mile 10 Bazaar in Kota Padawan.
