KINABATANGAN: A well-known hairstylist in Sandakan passed away in a car accident when his Honda car collided with a lorry last Tuesday at around 8.30pm.

Ng Ken Kiong, 33, or better known as Kent, suffered head injuries and was immediately sent to Lahad Datu Hospital.

However, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital the next morning (yesterday) at 6.30am.

Kinabatangan police chief Superintendent A Sahak Rahmat confirmed the case and said initial investigation found that Kent was heading towards Lahad Datu when the accident happened.

At KM 133 Jalan Sandakan-Lahad Datu here, Kent lost control of the wheel and entered the opposite lane and collided with the lorry.

Sahak said the 31-year-old male lorry driver suffered from minor injuries on his left knee following the collision.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, Kent’s regular customer for the past six years, Natalia Chong said she was shocked and sad to hear the news as she had just met Ng last Sunday when he did her hair.

“I cannot believe that he is gone. Kent was a nice and friendly person and I believe that many people in Sandakan will mourn over his death” she said.

Chong said she believed Kent was on his way to Tawau to meet his wife and son.

Kent who hailed from Tawau owned a hair Saloon at Bandar Indah Mile 4, Sandakan.
